What's Up with Ms Katz?
Ms. Katz has a secret. She's a cat who has always wanted to teach elementary school children. But even though she's a qualified teacher, prejudice always seems to stand in the way of her being able to realize her dreams. So when she goes to work at Riverside Elementary, she fails to mention this tidbit about herself and tries to pass herself off as a person.
It is immediately apparent to Jennie, a student in Ms. Katz's third-grade class that there is just something different about Ms. Katz, who just can't seem to hide all of her cat-like behavior. Jennie and the other kids begin to suspect that Ms. Katz is crazy and conspire with the principal to get her fired.
But along the way, the kids get to know Ms. Katz and discover what a truly amazing teacher, mentor, and friend she really is. They have a change of heart but can't convince the hard-nosed principal Oberman to give her a chance. When everyone discovers Ms. Katz's little secret, that she's a real cat, he doubles down. He does not like cats, not one little bit and there will absolutely NOT be any cats teaching at his school!
But, Principal Oberman has his own little secret and it will take an intervention from the school board and a surprise visit from an old friend to expose it.
